Cancelled – Alsteens home (1966)

NL Deze modernistische woning uit beton en baksteen met drie getrapte volumes onder een concaaf gebogen schaaldak is een ontwerp voor de tekenaar Gerard Alsteens (GAL). Braem vond het een “gedroomde opdracht voor een gedroomde klant”. Deze beschermde woning illustreert mooi de evolutie naar een organische biomorfe architectuur.

FR Faite de brique et de béton, cette habitation moderniste comprend trois volumes étagés sous une toiture en coquille concave. Elle a été conçue pour le compte du dessinateur Gerard Alsteens (GAL). Braem a dit qu’il s’agissait d’une « mission de rêve pour un client de rêve ». Ce bâtiment protégé illustre bien l’évolution vers une architecture biomorphe organique.

EN This modernist house constructed of concrete and brick with three stepped volumes under a concave shell roof is a design for illustrating artist Gerard Alsteens (GAL). Braem saw it as a “dream assignment for a dream client”. This listed residential building is a beautiful exemplification of the evolution towards an organic, biomorphic architecture.
