DESCRIPTION:Willy Van Der Meeren1971NL – In het begin van de jaren 1970 ontwierp Willy Van Der Meeren 352 studentenwoningen in het hart van de campus van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Elsene. Op zijn eigen unieke en inventieve manier maakte Van Der Meeren gebruik van een modulair bouwsysteem in prefabbeton om een kwalitatieve\, aangename leefomgeving te creëren waar verschillende generaties studenten een memorabele tijd beleefden. Vandaag behoren de voormalige studentenwoningen tot het waardevol architecturaal patrimonium van de VUB\, maar stellen ze ook bijzondere uitdagingen op gebied van energie en comfort. Om hierop een antwoord te bieden\, werden de voorbije jaren 2 projecten opgestart: het Circular Retrofit Lab en het WVDM Living Lab. In beide projecten werden wetenschappelijk onderzoeksvragen gecombineerd met praktische uitvoeringskwesties. Tijdens de rondleiding worden beide projecten in detail toegelicht en gekaderd binnen het bredere verhaal van de geschiedenis en de toekomst van de voormalige studentenwoningen.Gidsen: prof. Van Der Meeren a utilisé un système de construction modulaire en béton préfabriqué pour créer un cadre de vie agréable et de qualité où plusieurs générations d’étudiants ont sans aucun doute vécu des moments inoubliables. Aujourd’hui\, les anciennes résidences étudiantes font partie du précieux patrimoine architectural de la VUB\, mais elles posent également des défis particuliers en termes d’énergie et de confort. Pour y répondre\, 2 projets ont vu le jour ces dernières années : le « Circular Retrofit Lab » et le « WVDM Living Lab ». Ces deux projets associent un questionnement en termes de recherche scientifique et de mise en œuvre pratique.
